Wide Right

The look on Jim Kelly's face says it all.

The Bills had a chance to keep their playoff hopes alive last night but their hopes were erased by a kick that can best be descibed by a phrase that has and will continued to haunt the Bills:

"Wide Right"

What is eerily similar about Norwood's and Lindell's kicks were that they both 47 yards. Both kickers have had solid careers and Lindell has made clutch field goals all year long.

The blame for this loss falls squarely on the shoulders of Trent Edwards. That was the worst performance I have ever seen by a starting quarterback in the NFL. Edwards could not bring himself to throw the ball down the field after throwing 3 picks in the first quarter. It's plain and simple: he got scared. Edwards was afraid of failure and it showed. Last night proved why he was a third-round quarterback and Brady Quinn was a first round pick in the 2007 draft.

This should be a wake up call to the Bills. They are officially the worst team in the AFC East. They need a new quarterback. This upcoming draft they need to go after a quarterback who will be able to lead the team to victory and who not be afraid of failing. Someone like a Graham Harrell or Colt McCoy (if he leaves school early) would be perfect for the Bills.

The Bills have been trying to circle the wagons, but the wheels have fallen off. Their season is over.

Time for the Real Fun to Begin

Now that the World Series is out of the way it's time to move on to the fun stuff: The Offseason

Here are some big names and where they will end up this offseason

C.C Sabathia- New York Yankees- The Yanks will ask him "how much" and "how long" and then give him exactly what he says, if not more. The Yankees desperately need pitching and C.C will be a great arm to complement Wang. The Yanks rag-tag rotation will need to get a serious face-lift this year.
Mark Teixeira-The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of California of the United States of North America of the World of the Milky Way galaxy. Anaheim wants to keep him but he wants (and by he I mean his agent Scott Boras wants) to get a huge deal and the Angels will have a lot of money laying around since K-Rod is gone
Manny Ramirez- Somewhere in Los Angeles. If the Angels don't resign Teixeira then here comes the Manny show. The Dodgers would be crazy to let him go but they have been burned by giving big named players with big contracts in the past.(Brad Penny, Jason Schmidt, Andruw Jones)
Remember, when he was traded, Manny said that he wanted to finish his career in L.A. No specific team was mentioned in the interview
AJ Burnett- New York Yankees- This deal hinges on whether or not Mike Mussina Retires. It is looking like he will and although the Yanks may not be the highest bidder, it seems like Burnett wants to pitch in New York. The only downfall of Burnett is that he is injury prone and that is the last thing the Yanks need to do again (Carl Pavano)
Jake Peavy- ?- This one is tough.. he does not seem like he wants to pitch in the American League. The Padres will not trade him within their division. I guess I'll go with Atlanta but they would have to give up a lot to get him

No Home for the Rays

So apparently the Rays checked out of their hotel before tonight's game. The only problem is they have to finish game five tomorrow or Wednesday night and their hotel has already been filled up after they left. They might as well head to New Jersey because no full-blooded Philly fan is going to give them room and board.....
I guess they could sleep in the dugout...or bring their sleeping bags into the clubhouse.

All is Quiet on the Philadelphia Front

Dear Phillies fans,
I am writing to remind you that your team has a lead in a game that if they win, they are the champions of baseball. Right now it's about the fourth inning and I am one of the few people watching the world series other than the people in the stands. Stop reacting to the plays and get on your feet and cheer before a play even starts. I don't care that it is cold and rainy, your team is 15 outs away from your first championship since only God knows when. Seriously get up, its the World Series, the stadium should be rocking right now.

Steve Phillips Admits He Screwed Up

Steve Phillips finally came out of the closet last night and admitted that he screwed up by signing Mo Vaughn and Roberto Alomar.
Well all I have to say to that is thank you captain obvious.
He also went on to say that he didn't trade Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano, which is true, but guess what Steve, you still got fired.
Oh, and by the way, everyone will still blame you for that trade, so get used to it.

Interview with a Legend

I recently did not get an opportunity to interview Yankees boss Hank "the tank" Steinbrenner, but if I did i think this is how it would go.

Hi Hank, thanks for letting me interview you

-This better be worth my time, I've only got another day or two to come out with a ridiculous statement and I haven't thought of one yet.

- I promise this will be worth it....the first thing I want to know are your thoughts on this past season

- Well if Bud Selig and those other nimrods in the MLB offices were smart, they would get rid of the divisions and just give the World Championship to the team with the highest payroll. They also need to get to this century and make everybody use a DH. They should know that our pitchers aren't taught how to run the bases. When Bud is done, I hope that I am elected commissioner so I can right the wrongs.

-Ok Hank, good luck with that....what was your favorite part of this year?

-It had to be the All-Star game. It was nice to see all of those future Yankees on one field.

- You honestly think you are going to get all of the American and National League All-stars on one team?

- No, stupid, that's impossible....The AL guys would be in the majors and the NL guys would start in the minors....maybe if they played baseball like it was this century they could get a shot...but until then, the only field they will see is the one in Scranton.

- You really are just like people say aren't you?

- If they say smart, handsome, executive of the year, then yes I am

- Well this has been a waste of my time Hank...thanks for nothing

- If by waste of time you mean the best interview you've ever had...than your welcome
